Make sure all of your travel documents are in order. Your passport should be valid for six months from your departure date. Chances are, your plane ticket will be an electronic ticket. Bring your booking reference number and passport identification to the airline check in counter to receive your boarding passes.

Planning for SurgeryFor Your Surgeon

Bring along any graphical items or examples you would like your surgeon to see, such as previous X-Rays, or photographs of your desired outcomes. The more information you bring, the clearer a picture your surgeon will have. You will also better understand what is attainable from your surgery.

Packing

Remember when packing, not to over pack. Bear in mind the climate in Thailand. It is hot and humid. Bringing along multiple pairs of jeans and long sleeved shirts is not a good plan. Lightweight loose fitting clothing always performs best in these types of conditions. Bring along at least one button-up shirt as your arm mobility will limited after surgery. If only going for one week, consider not checking any luggage at all and bringing a small carry-on. Even for longer stays this method works well. Most people spend time shopping and find themselves going home with more things than they left with. Virtually everything can be bought in Thailand for a fraction of the cost back home. Do not store bottles full of liquid of more than 100ml in your carry on luggage.

Getting Your Body Ready

Leading up to surgery, there are some things you can do to ensure your body is in the best shape possible. The idea here is to help boost the immune system and help you heal quickly after surgery. Exercise is also an important way to prepare for surgery. If you don’t regularly exercise, start now. Gently at first, and do not push yourself to the point of soreness. Your fitness goals for this period are to increase lung power and blood flow. Put aside your diet two weeks prior to surgery. Even if you are overweight, you can expect good results from a cosmetic surgery. Maintain healthy eating habits as you will need all the nutritional help you can get. If you regularly take multivitamins, stop two weeks beforehand. Excess vitamins in your system can lead to prolonged bleeding.

You should maintain (or start) healthy eating habits by:Preparing your skin for surgery

  • Abandoning all refined and processed foods.
  • Drink lots of water (4 litres + per day).
  • Avoid coffee or anything with caffeine in it.
  • Alcohol should be cut out as soon as possible
  • Eat lots of green vegetables.
  • Natural supplements can be taken.

Two weeks prior to your surgery date, refrain from taking any over-the-counter drugs.

Caring for your Skin

It is important to care for your skin prior to undergoing a cosmetic procedure. Professionals agree that the healthier your skin is, the more pleasing the results will be. Some precautionary steps should be made to ensure your skin is in optimal condition, such as:

  • Wash regularly, and avoid overexposure to UV rays before surgery.
  • Moisturize skin well. Keeping the skin soft and elastic will facilitate the surgical process.
  • Drink plenty of water daily.
  • Taking natural Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Calcium supplements can add resilience to the skin.
  • Quit smoking, and anticipate no use of tobacco products while you recover. Smoking can reduce the quality of blood circulation and postpone healing.
